As the National Military Program Director of USSSA Softball, it has been an honor and pleasure having your team play after our opening ceremonies in Panama City Beach, FL these past two years. The Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team is a very important member of the USSSA softball family. The players show pride and courage both as a team and as individuals. It is with heartfelt wishes that the team continue to play in the World Series. The tournament would not be the same if they did not attend. It is amazing the energy that comes from watching these men on the field. I have received several phone calls from the local residents saying how much they enjoyed the games and felt the sense of pride these men who have protected our country.

Louisville Slugger is humbled and honored to be the equipment sponsor of the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team. We remember that very first phone call with David nearly two years ago when we told him in the blink of an eye that we would provide their softball equipment. Of course, he and the team have been here many times and we always look forward to their visits. The guys have truly become part of our family.

“Please don’t call me a hero” was often heard from the players of the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team on their recent stop in the Northwest Florida Emerald Coast. If you can’t call them heroes then there isn’t a single word that “labels” them in what they do, how they give back and how humble they are. These guys have survived unconscionable injuries and numerous surgeries only to return as dedicated, elite atheletes that perform at the highest level without signs of any restrictions what so ever. They truly inspire with their message “Life Without Limbs is Limitless.” They have become role models for everyone who has had to suffer the loss of limb(s); especially children!

I had a great time playing in the first annual Medical Center Orthotics & Prosthetics charity softball game NFL vs Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team. Spending time around the players from the amputee team gave me a greater appreciation for our soldiers and the sacrifices that they make to protect our freedom. I was even more surprised to see how athletic many of the players were and It was an honor to compete with them on the same field…Can’t wait until next year.

The Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team are truly amazing and heroes. It was such an honor to host them and have them come to our hometown of Sulphur, LA. We are beyond grateful and in debt to them for all they have sacrificed. They are all so inspiring and have touched my life in a special way as servicemen and now seeing all they have overcome and continue to overcome on a daily basis.
