Desirée Ellison is the Executive Director of the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team, a non-profit organization allowing our amputee veterans to continue “serving beyond the uniform.” As the Executive Director, Desiree works closely with the board and national volunteers to advance the team’s mission and provide inspiration to communities across the country.
Before joining the team, Desirée was a major fundraiser and had spent years in marketing and corporate sponsorship for minor league baseball teams and college athletics. Always gravitating toward supporting non-profit programs, Desirée has found her passion by combining her love of sports, advancing a worthy cause, and giving back to the men and women who allow her the freedoms to do so. Although she herself did not serve, this role allows her to honor those who did, including her grandfather (Army), father (Marines), sister (Air Force), and brother (Navy).
Desirée earned a Bachelor’s from Virginia Wesleyan University in Social Science. She continued by earning a Master’s in Organizational Administration and Athletic Finance, and is two chapters away from completing her PhD in Athletic Administration, both from Old Dominion University. Thanks to her childhood in the Finger Lakes (Watkins Glen, NY), Desirée loves the outdoors and being on the water. She currently lives in Norfolk, VA with her beloved dogs, a Husky and two Pomeranians.
